The History Of Lincoln

The Lincoln Motor Company was first created in 1917 by Henry M. Leland and his son, Wilfred. The company started in Dearborn, Michigan, and that's where the first Lincoln models were created. The father and son duo named the company "Lincoln" after President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln Motor Company started its journey by creating aircraft engines during WWI. Once the war ended, Lincoln Motor Company shifted its focus to creating luxury vehicles, with the "L Series" being the first-ever Lincoln model created.

Is Lincoln An American-Made Brand?

While Lincoln originally started out as a solely American-made brand, it has shifted the production of some models outside of the U.S. The brand started making its models in Michigan, but where are Lincoln cars made today? Today, most Lincoln models are made in the United States, with three manufacturing plants in Kentucky and Illinois. The Kentucky Truck Plant and the Louisville Assembly Plant are in Kentucky, and the Chicago Plant is in Illinois.

While most Lincoln cars are made inside the United States, there are some models, like the Nautilus, that are manufactured outside of the country. Where is the Lincoln Nautilus made? We go into detail about the model's current manufacturing location below.

Where Is The Lincoln Nautilus Made?

The Lincoln Nautilus recently changed from being made in Ontario, Canada, to being made in China. The main reason for this is simply because the plant in Canada will shift to solely making EVs and battery packs. Even though the Lincoln Nautilus is currently being manufactured in China, West Lafayette drivers can still schedule a test drive of any of the Nautilus models right here at our dealership.
